Welcome to Spokane’s bike and pedestrian information center.   This site is a resource for citizens to stay updated on major projects, issues, and information, including links to related websites.  The City is making continual walking and bicycling improvements, and we will keep you informed on our journey.

“Streets, pedestrian paths and bicycle paths should contribute to a system of fully connected and interesting routes to all destinations.” (Spokane Comprehensive Plan)

The City of Spokane made a number of improvements for Spokane bicyclists and pedestrians in 2010.  Most of those improvements were federally funded. The improvements included:

  • 23,708 linear feet of new sidewalks; 3,740 linear feet of repaired sidewalks; and 650 new sidewalk curb ramps
  • New pedestrian countdown timers at the intersections on Third Ave. in the downtown area
  • Fish Lake Trail Phase II
  • 4.9 miles of  bike lanes (Howard St., Fourth Ave., Riverside Ave., Assembly Rd., High Dr., 37th Ave., Main Ave.,  and Jefferson St.); and nearly half a mile of  “Sharrows” (Spokane Falls Blvd. and Main Ave.)
  • 16 bike racks (downtown and on Sprague Ave.)
  • Eight outside bike lockers (Spokane Falls Blvd. and Washington St.)
